LifeLines® Overview

Lifelines is a medical peer reviewed journal. The information being presented is for medical professionals. The work and research being presented represents the clinical experience of the authors, and as such should not be considered authoritative or as a guide or recipe for any specific patient's care unless first reevaluated by that patient's physicians. The publication of this article in no way suggests approval or recommendation of the techniques espoused in the article, and is simply meant as a means of fostering collaboration and discussion among medical professionals. The further object of this publication is to make available to the general public an understanding of issues involved with patient care and developing approaches. Authors and centers publishing also have their address and resume on file in the document which may be called up by the viewer. These resumees are provided by the author, and are not subjected to further attempts at verification of their accuracy.

Lifelines accepts articles for publication from around the world. The articles being accepted for publication range from general information articles designed to assist a patient or lay person in understanding a medical problem, to articles designed to educate allied professionals in certain aspects of collaborative care (a cardiologist may choose to write to the general medical and nursing profession concerning advances in acute cardiac care for heart attacks), to articles designed for specialists and subspecialists in specific areas, such as a neurologist writing an article to other neurologists. The articles are cross referenced to allow a total index word search.

Lifelines also has a private forum for medical professionals only attached to each article in which the medical professional community may, in privacy, discuss the presented work, implications and conclusions in the interests of advancing medical care. All data, if not felt to be medically reasonable by the editors, will be requested and must be presented by the authors of articles for publication. In the private forums, if normal standards of professional conduct are not met, the offending party will be warned once. The second infraction will result in lifetime banishment of the individual from the Journal and the forums.
